Curls, Curls and Curls.

Meet Carolyn!
To create this look, Mark used the baliage technique to add depth
and dimension to the hair.

For styling, Mark used the following products from Arrojo:

Arrojo Defrizz Serum:

A soft, silky, and calming no hold product. Eliminates frizz, controls
fly-aways, and eases excess volume.

Directions: Place a few drops on palms and work through damp hair. Now
blow-dry frizz away, allowing the heat of your dryer to do the work. For
really thick frizzy hair push in a little extra product to keep it sleek.
 Arrojo Curl Enhancer:

Supports soft, fine curls, refines, boosts, creates support soft, fine curls,
refines, boosts, creates shapely spring.

Directions: Apply to damp hair; comb through.  Gently cup and squeeze
curls from tip to root.  Repeat intermittently until hair is dry, and curls are
perfectly formed.  Alternatively, blow-dry with a diffuser.

4 Easy Styling Tips For Growing Out Your Hair In The Summer

Whether you’re growing out your layers or just attempting to add a few inches before fall, that
horrible in-between stage can be even tougher when the weather turns warm and your social
life heats up.

Here, let MC Salon walk you through some simple styling tips as well as great go-to taming products
for everyday women to incorporate in their regimen.

For a bang-free ponytail:
Pull your hair back and secure tightly with a rubber band. Then, finish with Moroccan Oil Hairspray
to smooth away flyaways and provide hold.

  For humidity-resilient hair:
When hair is almost dry, spray Arrojo Thermal Protection Spray on 3-inch sections of hair to help
protect it from the heat of the iron and enhance its resilience. Then go about styling!

For ends that won’t frizz:
Finish with a few drops of Arrojo Styling Creme to keep ends looking smooth and shiny.

For perfect hair no matter the styling:
Prior to styling, prep hair using Moroccan Oil Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner!

Short and Sweet

Looking at celebrities, fashionistas and influencers, it looks like there are two big trends for spring
and summer hair. Of course there is the tousled, disheveled elegance of the beach wave, as textured
hair makes its long-awaited return. But we are also seeing short hair make its comeback. We can
thank Michelle Williams, Rooney Mara, and Ginnifer Goodwin for the genesis, yet short hair is
where one can be most creative, so no need to copy their styles too much.

Instead, get your own expressive shape, like the one above. A freeform razor-cut, it is a short and
textured lived-in look boasting an almost kinetic feel. With heavy undercutting asymmetry, a textured
fringe that swooshes from one side to the other, the hair seems in perpetual motion.
Step: This style is pure ‘wash and wear.’ It’s all about using favorite products to attain your favorite
aesthetic.

Step: Cocktail styling creme and texture paste in palms and ruffle through damp hair, roots to ends.
Creme will add fullness to the shape while paste gives the textural separation.

Step: For more contrast and movement –– and a low-glow matte finish –– switch to cream wax and
use it to tousle the shape.

Step: You can push the boundaries of shampooing with short hair. Leave hair without wet shampoo
for a few days and try Refinish dry shampoo instead. It cleans without water, adds grittiness, texture
and volume instantly.

Short and layered

Short and layered, this modern graduation is a perfect fit for Ashley. Her eyes have the allure of the
deep blue sea, so the focus of any style should be to expose and highlight this incredible feature.
Happily, she’s got sexy side bangs that glide across her baby blues, making them pop. Ashlee has a
great base for blonde. Her skin tone and eye color are complimentary, and flaxen helps her look like a
bubbly and fun American Gal.
Step: Cocktail texture paste and styling creme and work evenly through damp hair.

Step: Blast hair with blowdryer. As you do, lift hair off root, push around, and sweep into the general
shape of your desired finish.

Step: Using hands, tuck short side casually behind ear and sweep the long top across the eye line,
allowing it to fall in an beautifying, elegant way.

Enjoy greater hair everyday -Nick Arrojo

With 30 years as a stylist, including stints working for the likes of Vidal Sassoon and Bumble &
Bumble before opening his own iconic Manhattan studio, Nick Arrojo knows the secrets to great hair.
Happily, he’s sharing his thoughts in weekly blog post for Style Noted. Today Nick looks at some
Golden Guidelines that he likes to share with all his clients. Continue reading for this rarified
insight…

I’m not into hard and fast beauty rules; life’s to short. That said, there are some guidelines that I
have found help all women enjoy greater hair everyday. Let’s take a look:

Create an Eye-Catching Face-Frame: It may be a cliche, but it is also true: Your eyes are the
windows to the soul. A hairstyle should be designed to complement them, so focus on a face-frame to
expose and highlight eyes. That’s where we communicate, and it’s where we have most shape – the
eyebrows, the cheekbones, the temples. Enhance these features with great hair.

Comb Out the Knots: Ladies with mid-length or long hair usually have a few tangles. Tangles make
styling harder, so it is important to comb them out. Start by combing through the final two-to-three
inches of your hair – the ends of your hair shaft – and comb through to the tips. Then work your way
back, combing through the next three inches or so, and continue like this until you reach your roots.

Bang On: I can’t stress enough the importance of great bangs. Get them cut wrong and eyes look
closer together, or you get weighed down with an old-fashioned look. Get them cut right and bangs
lift you up, frame the wonderful features of your face, and bring more attention to eyes. Be brave and
try gorgeous new bangs.

Clarity on Conditioner: I hear a lot of people say that you don’t need to condition nearly as often as
you shampoo. That’s wrong. Condition hair more often than you shampoo because conditioner is
what gives hair texture, moisture, and shine. Conditioner not only makes your hair look and feel
softer and smoother, it also calms your hair down, making it easier to shape and style.

Dry Shampoo: One of the best product innovations for years, dry shampoo is great for the modern
girl about town. It means you can wet shampoo less, and good dry shampoos also have styling and
texturizing benefits. I work with mine all the time. Use a dry shampoo to get instant texture and
volume, with a contemporary, gritty finish.

Mens DEPT.

We LOVE Mens DEPT at Mark Christopher Salon!  Take a look at
the versatile ways in which you can use these products!

Start by cleansing the hair with Mens DEPT. Tonic Shampoo and
Conditioner.  Most men enjoy this shampoo and conditioner for its
tingling and cleansing effect on the scalp.

After lightly combing through the hair, apply the Mens DEPT.
Grooming Cream 2.  Since Robbie has naturally curly hair, lets take
a look at how to play up those curls!

In a circular motion, take 1 inch sections and twist the hair away
from the face.  This will help to define and enhance your curl.
Remember that the oils form your hands can sometimes weigh
down hair strands, so the less you touch the greater the curl.

Once your hair is 75% dry, use your hands to tousle and separate
the curls.   Do this by lightly scissoring your hands throughout your
head, keeping pressure at the scalp.

Create a product cocktail by using the Grooming Cream 2 and the
Curl Defining Mousse by Moroccan Oil.

Take a look at that texture!

To finish off the look, Makenna uses this Sebastian Moldable Wax -
a brand new product just released by Sebastian!  The wax gives a
luminescent shine and hold to any type of hair.

Work the wax through the hair by scrunching and lifting up.

 Shine shine shine!

Viola! Look at those curls - and how great does Robbie look
standing in front of the Mens DEPT. line?!  Find any of these
exclusive products at Mark Christopher Salon!

Ok! So it's not just all about the curls, want to see how Makenna
uses Mens DEPT. to go from curly hair to straight?  Take a look!

After shampooing and conditioning, apply the Mens DEPT. Grooming cream and Micro-tech throughout the hair.

To create a smooth look, Makenna uses a hairdryer and paddle
brush.  She uses the brush to create movement and volume by over
directing the hair left to right over the head.

Once the hair is dry and smooth, spray a medium to strong hold
hairspray throughout the hair.  Be sure the spray you choose is not
too strong of a hold because you want to be able to work your
fingers through the hair.  Makenna chose to use the Zero Gravity
Spray by Sebastian.

Use your hands to mold and overwork the hair to the shape and
style that you want to achieve.

 Smooth smooth smooooooth!

Boom! There you have it!  This  Mens DEPT. line is great for
creating masculine and current styles for any hair texture!
